       Mr. Kim specializes in all areas of intellectual property law which includes patents, trademarks and copyrights.  In the area of patent law, Mr. Kim has successfully identified patent opportunities, conducted patentability studies, and prepared, filed and prosecuted patent applications.  He has guided and advised clients through the complex procedural and legal issues that can arise while obtaining a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and abroad.  Mr. Kim has enforced and defended patent rights.  Furthermore, he has issued opinions, performed due diligence, and conducted freedom to operate studies.

       Moreover, Mr. Kim has counseled business entities and entrepreneurs in establishing, leveraging and protecting their trademark and copyright assets in the United States and abroad.  He has advised clients prior to the adoption of new trademarks with screening and clearance searches.   Mr. Kim has secured registrations for trademarks in the United States and abroad and have been engaged in a full range of opposition and cancellation, as well as United States district and court of appeal proceedings.  Additionally, he has counseled, and prepared opinions and provided legal analyses on the full range of copyright issues.  These include ownership rights, renewal and termination rights, assignment, fair use, safe harbor protection, damages, enforcement strategies, and portfolio management.
